About This Initiative
The creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that makes Las Vegas the Entertainment Capital of the World is splendidly displayed on the sides of downtown buildings, in sidewalk installations and in popup galleries.
The city of Las Vegas will tap this spirit to launch a Public Art Festival that engages the residents of Las Vegas in the process of creating, experiencing and interacting with public art.
Through a multi-day festival, public artists will create commissioned work while residents and visitors can witness the process of fabrication and learn about the creativity, science, technology, engineering, and math involved in the process. With a goal of 50,000 attendees annually over the three to four days, the city will boldly commit to the value of art in our public spaces.
The Public Art Festival will inspire residents to engage in community spaces and result in positive economic impact to the city from the spending of festival attendees.
The Mayor’s Fund is seeking $300,000 in sponsorship to support the commissioning/residency fees for approximately 20 artists.
