$25,000 Grant from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians supports city’s Vegas Strong Academies

A $25,000 grant from the San Manuel Band of MissionIndians to The Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE wasrecently awarded to support the city’s Vegas StrongAcademies program that provides a safe, caring andaffordable childcare option with emphasis on supportfor distance learning. The grant covers tuition for up to50 students to participate in the program.

According to Dr. Tammy Malich, director, youth development and social innovation for the city of Las Vegas, the city’s Vegas Strong Academies program currently operates in ten locations throughout the city, including select community centers and libraries, to provide a safe and caring place for students to participate in virtual education and receive before- and after-school care. The program is designed for students from Kindergarten to grade eight.
